A joint venture between Vitol, Shell, and Helios, Vivo Energy is the corporate brand behind what was previously Shell’s downstream business in Africa. We devised a name that reflects a youthful, energetic business with ambitious plans for a bright future; ‘Vivo’ meaning life, vitality, and vigour. 

The visual language and ‘world of energy’ logo device was further supported with a colour palette as vibrant as Africa itself. From launch material explaining the new brand’s genesis and values to comprehensive brand guidelines outlining application across all touchpoints, we designed everything from stationery to uniforms, wayfinding to brochures, digital assets to oil tankers. 

Since 2011, the business has grown significantly. Now operating in 28 markets with a network of almost 4000 service stations, and serving circa 2 million customers every day, Vivo Energy is a market-leading retailer and distributor of high-quality fuels and lubricants across Africa.
